In Part 1 of Catherine’s skincare analysis, I commented on Catherine’s sun damage (brown discoloration) and redness. I have reviewed Catherine’s symptoms with her and she doesn’t have problems with flushing easily, for instance with emotional upset, spicy foods or alcohol and she doesn’t tend to get spots or blemishes. However, she has reacted to skincare products so her pattern is consistent with a mild form of rosacea.
The first step for Catherine is to get her using medical grade skincare products. I have chosen the Vivier Redness Relief kit for her which contains Hexam IDS Gentle Cleanser, Refreshing Toner, Firming Eye Contour Cream, A/K Capsules, Lexxel IDS Redness Relief Moisturizing Cream and Daily Moisturizing Shield SPF 30. This is an excellent kit for rosacea-prone skin. The Hexam cleanser and Lexxel moisturizer knock back the redness immediately, i.e. by the time you’re done your skincare routine.

I would like to thank Vivier for donating Catherine’s skincare products. Vivier is a Canadian company and family-owned. Most importantly, their products really work.
The Redness Relief Kit, in addition to reducing redness in Catherine’s skin, is going to help normalize dry and oily areas and make the skin more tolerant. That means that over time, her skin won’t react with redness or breakouts the way it used to. These products will also help to stimulate collagen formation in her skin, making her skin appear smoother and firmer.
There are 2 other products that I would like to use on Catherine if she can tolerate them. One is the SeeQuin IDS 4 serum which contains Vitamin C 10% and Hydroquinone 4%. The hydroquinone will help lighten her brown sun spots and the vitamin C will help lighten her skin and stimulate collagen formation.
The other product, Clarité, comes from Vivier’s SkinTx line. SkinTx is a more active skincare line designed to restore skin that is photodamaged, acne-prone or aged. SkinTx is not recommended for rosacea, which is why I would only try the one product out of the whole SkinTx line and only have Catherine use it as tolerated.
Clarité contains hydroquinone, anti-oxidants and alpha hydroxy acid (AHA). It helps to lighten the skin.
The SeeQuin and Clarité are a couple of little skincare tricks for accelerating the lightening and brightening of Catherine’s complexion but the Redness Relief Kit alone will make a huge difference in the quality of her skin.
In my next post, I will discuss the physical treatments we are planning for Catherine. She’s going to look great!

You may notice that the picture above shows the kit for dry, hypersensitive skin rather than the Redness Relief Kit. Unfortunately I don’t have the artwork for RR kit but this picture shows that the kit comes in a nice bag and has full sizes of all of the products. One kit should last between 4 and 6 months.
