Catherine’s makeup, Part 3: Day to night conversion

In this video, Claire takes up where she left off in the last one, converting Catherine’s daytime makeup to a more dramatic evening look.

At the end of the video, I left a little of the conversation between Catherine and Claire as Catherine asks a few questions and comments on the makeup.

This series of videos is great for anyone who needs to update their makeup techniques or is interested in learning how to use mineral makeup.

Makeup techniques after a procedure — Part 2

Just to recap, Claire Andrews, makeup specialist at Advanced Rejuvenation Medical Spa, is demonstrating a makeup application on Catherine while Catherine’s skin is red and rough from a fractionated laser treatment.

In Part 1, we saw how Claire handles the concealer and foundation using gloMinerals mineral makeup.

In Part 2, she applies color — blush, eyes, brows and lips — to complete a daytime look. You’ll see Claire demonstrating some of the techniques she discussed in her first video, particularly how to handle the bright blush colors that are fashionable now and how to get the current brow shape.

Part 3 will show how to convert the daytime look to a bit more drama for night.

Makeup techniques after a procedure — Part 1

This is the first of 2 videos about applying makeup after a fractionated laser treatment.

The fractionated laser we use is the Pixel but you would have the same thing with the Fraxel or Sciton ProFractional. Your skin is reddened and roughened for a few days after the treatment. The roughness gradually flakes off.

The reason we do a fractionated laser treatment is to improve the texture of the skin so it looks smoother, tighter and more refined. The laser works by stimulating collagen formation which tightens the skin, and stimulating new skin cell formation which makes the skin look fresh and radiant.

In this video, the makeup specialist at Advanced Rejuvenation, Claire, demonstrates on Catherine how you can completely hide the redness and roughness with a light application of concealer and foundation. In Part 2, Claire will apply color to the cheeks and eyes to finish up Catherine’s look.

Update your makeup for spring

The buzz this spring is all about switching to lighter, brighter colours. For those of us who have been brought up to have a stark fear of blue eyeshadow, how do we make it work?

In this video, Claire Andrews, makeup specialist at Advanced Rejuvenation Medical Spa, demonstrates 2 quick and easy tips that look pretty and fashionable — just what we need for spring!

10 Things You Can Do Today to Look & Feel 10 Years Younger

This list is in no particular order. I suggest you pick the top 3 or 4 things that are most relevant to you so you’ll see the biggest impact in the shortest period of time.

  1. Whiten your teeth.
A whiter, brighter smile takes years off your look.
  2. Have a professional makeup lesson.
Most of us haven’t changed our makeup techniques in 20 years; new techniques will make you look prettier and more contemporary.
  3. Have a hairstyle makeover.
Let a good hairstylist tell you what would suit you and look up-to-date.
  4. Get properly-fitting undergarments.
Over 80% of us are in the wrong size bra. You will be amazed at how much better you will look and feel in the right size. You will look sleeker with the right shapewear as well.
  5. Do a physical activity that you love.
When is the last time you bopped around to your favorite music, went canoeing or played tennis? Doing an activity that you love will make you feel vibrant.
  6. Eat more fiber.
Being constipated makes you feel sluggish. Adding fiber to your diet will make you feel more energetic.
  7. Drink more water.
How many of us live on coffee? Switching to water will make your skin look better, make your head feel clearer and make everything work better in your body.
  8. Use a Vitamin C serum.
Vivier’s Vitamin C serum is one of the few products I know of that make an instant change to your appearance.
  9. Get a new outfit (but let someone objective help you choose it).
Go shopping with a frank and stylish friend or put yourself in the hands of a saleswoman you can trust. You need someone who will tell you what suits you and what looks fashionable to get you out of a fashion rut.
  10. Learn to meditate.
Meditation will erase the signs of strain and worry as you learn how to calm your mind.
